The chassis of our single-seater is to the human body what the skeleton is. It is on this element that all the other parts of the car will be added: the ground connections, the aerodynamic hulls, the engine, the battery, the bucket, all the wiring... We had to define the technical requirements at the beginning of our project to move forward quickly with the design of the frame.
For the sake of manufacturing means and knowledge, we have chosen to start with a classic tubular steel frame rather than a carbon monocoque. Working cooperatively with the other teams, the students in charge of designing our latticework must provide anchor points for the suspensions, wheels, and fairings. They must also provide rooms for the installation of the battery and powertrain while ensuring the safety of the driver and compliance with the specifications.
After several weeks of cross-working, the design of the chassis came to an end and the steel tubes had already arrived at the workshop when the sanitary situation annihilated…

Cancellation of the Val d'Isère exhibition

It is with disappointment that we announce the cancellation of theVal d'Isère electric and hybrid exhibition due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Originally scheduled from July 24 to 26, 2020, it aimed to bring together a large number of professionals and enthusiasts of green mobility. Although, this week we have just learned that this year exhibition is canceled. However, there is still good news: Formul’UT will be present during the 2021 edition!

A significant step regarding aerodynamic.

Now that the chassis modeling has made some big improvements, our team in charge of the aerodynamic of the car will be more focused on the modeling of the hull and some more complex aerodynamic parts. The hull of our car will be quite classic. The conception of the spoiler will have a big role on the aerodynamic work because it can affect the different configurations that we may choose or the choice of the material in order to follow the goal that we have set or the different constraints.

For our first development car, we can't rely on concrete test in real condition. That's why our team will do a dynamic model so that we can have a robust model as close as possible to the reality. This includes theoretical data such as the center of mass, friction coefficients of the wheels on the ground, or even the aerodynamic repartition. This model will allow us to optimize the car performance based on the car data. We will set up…
